Heritage Worldwide's
PIP Subsidiary Obtains European Common
Market Approval Of New Manufacturing Process For Implants
New process improves the strength and softness of implants, promoting easier implantation by plastic surgeons
NEW
YORK, Jan. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Heritage Worldwide, Inc. (the "Company")
(OTC Bulletin Board: HWWI), a worldwide leader of breast implants
through its French subsidiary Poly Implants Protheses, S.A. ("PIP"),
today announced that it has received authorization from the Common
Market to manufacture and market its brand new micro-texturized "Velvet"
implants.
Velvet implants are made with a process developed by PIP that creates
more than 1500 pores per square centimeter of surface area of an implant.
Prior processes generally created approximately 400 pores per square
centimeter of surface area.
The
newly developed process enhances the strength resistance to tears of
implants by approximately 20% over existing processes. Elongation is
also improved by approximately 15% over existing processes. As a result
of the increased number of pores, wrinkles and creases on implants are
decreased, and the shell of the implant is softer.
The
overall result is a product that is easier for a plastic surgeon to
implant in patients.
Jean
Claude Mas, President and CEO of the Company, stated that "We are
excited about the opportunities opened to us by our new process. Velvet
texture will be available for all of ours products, including breast and
buttocks implants. The texture will also be available for use with our
revolutionary new titanium coated implants."
